Who is the course for?
The Course is designed for qualified teachers who have had a break from recent teaching experience in the UK and wish to update and refresh their skills and understanding in preparation for re-entering the workplace.
It offers a flexible training package designed to meet your needs and support you in refreshing your subject knowledge and familiarity with current practices and procedures. If you take the full course, you will also be able to evidence learner outcomes from having taught a number of school-based sessions.
What is the course like?
There are a number of different training options for the 2016-17 course for which payment is due in full, prior to course commencement:
Attendance at any number of (3 hour) sessions selected by you from a ‘menu’ of choices (see below) - £50 per session. N.B All sessions are scheduled within the working day.
Attendance at a total of 10 or more (3 hour) sessions selected by you carries a £100 discount off the total price.
Attendance at the full-time seven week Induction Course for £1,500 comprising:
Daily taught sessions and school-based experiences mapped against the Teachers’ Standards
A series of progressive practical school-based tasks to support application of theory in practice
The opportunity to work with children in every year group form Year R to Year 6
The opportunity to observe the teaching styles of seven different teachers based in an ‘Outstanding’ school.
Access to consultation time with a teacher who is a Specialist Leader in Education (SLE) for personalised support.
The opportunity for ongoing professional dialogue with a range of colleagues in a community of practice
Access to online training materials and resources
Certification of training
A reference from the Training Provider / Head teacher of the Teaching School to support future job applications.

Where is the course based?
South Coast SCITT already offers PGCE teacher training for graduates seeking QTS. The teachers who attend the Return to Teaching Course would be studying alongside these trainees based at South Coast SCITT Learning Centre, which is located within the schools grounds of Bransgore Primary School, Ringwood Rd, Bransgore, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 8JH. http://www.scscitt.co.uk/
When Does the Course Start?
From the beginning of September to mid October but if you require refresher training outside this period you are advised to contact the school directly to discuss other possible options.
Who is the course taught by?
Sessions are led by Initial Teacher Education (ITE) Tutors who currently lead the PGCE Course and who have had many years teaching and leadership experience and educational qualifications to at least Masters Level.
